HISTORY

OUR TRADITION

  • 1988 – WoodLink founded by James Link Nylen and the company operated out of a 6,000 square foot facility in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
  • 1990 and 1991 – WoodLink expanded its production facility, with the addition of 15,000 and 5,000 square feet, respectively, to its Mt. Ayr plant to accommodate the growth that was occurring.
  • 1993 - WoodLink built a 30,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Winterset, Iowa. 
  • 1996, WoodLink built a 30,000 square foot addition to the Mount Ayr facility. 
  • 2000 - the Winterset facility was sold and all of the Winterset operations were transferred to the Mount Ayr facility; a 6000 square foot addition was completed on the Mount Ayr facility. Company starts to import products from China.
  • 2001 – WoodLink began leasing an office in West Des Moines through a related party for its corporate and sales offices.
  • 2002 - WoodLink signed an exclusive agreement to supply feeders, houses and accessories to the National Audubon Society under the Audubon brand.
  • 2004 - WoodLink moved its corporate and sales office to a new leased location in West Des Moines.
  • 2005 - Dave Nylen named President and CEO of WoodLink.
  • 2007 - WoodLink officially opened an office in Hong Kong to better synchronize its manufactured imports. With wood, plastic, metal and glass products made domestically and abroad, WoodLink offers a unique diversity of products that cater to its wide range of customers. WoodLink imports products from three sources in China and one source in India.
  • 2007 - WoodLink was honored with the Hardware Retailers Choice - Best Product award for its innovative new line of Happy Hour hummingbird feeders. The “Best of the Best” award is presented at the annual National Hardware Show. Winning companies are recognized for those products that demonstrate innovation and sales potential. 
  • 2008 - WoodLink launched its entire line of GOING GREENTM products. These feeders and houses are made of over 90% post-consumer recycled plastic. Up to 30 post-consumer milk jugs are recycled to make an average GOING GREENTM Feeder. The entire line is “Made in the USA”. 
  • 2008 - for the second straight year, WoodLink was selected as a winner of the Hardware Retailers Choice Award. WoodLink was honored for its new line of National Audubon Society’s GOING GREENTM recycled plastic bird feeders and house series. 
  • 2009 – WoodLink launches its new Slot ‘n Pin hardware line
  • 2010 – WoodLink launches its new Advantage product line targeted to retail chains nationwide
  • 2011 – WoodLink launches its new Hooks ‘n More line of hardware and birding accessories
  • 2011 - WoodLink merges with Kay Home Products - expanding the product line to include a wide array of hummingbird feeders, nectar, metal squirrel-resistant feeders and purple martin houses.
  • 2017 --Acquired by Panacea Products,

    Panacea Products is a family owned company that is celebrating 50 years of manufacturing excellence. It was started in 1967 by Frank Paniccia. The company has grown as a manufacturer through products supplied to a variety of industries.

     

    Our consumer products include decorative metal products for the garden and hearth industry, wild birding accessories, home organization products, as well as flower-arranging products for the craft industry. We also supply a variety of commercial and industrial users products made from steel, glass, and plastic.

     

    Operations are headquartered in Columbus, Ohio with distribution and production facilities located throughout North America and the Far East.


WoodLink currently manufactures over 200 traditional cedar and Going Green recycled bird feeders and houses at its 60,000 sq. ft. facility in Mount Ayr, Iowa. WoodLink also imports approximately 100 additional bird feeders, houses and birding accessories via its office in Hong Kong with various suppliers in China and India.  Kay Home Products operates a 330,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and warehousing facility in Antioch, Illinois.
